Kabel Filter? Sorry im englsih

Beitrag von b1gdan »

Hi people,

I have a hige issue i ordered my broadband kabel on 26/11/2012 and its still not working. Some engineers came out and said i have a filter in one of my neighbours flat which is stopping signal into my flat.. but i asked my neighbours and they said all interent kabel system is in the outhouse before entering our building ( i live in a flat ).

I have taken some pictures to show you what i mean. But i cant see a filter. There is only 2 links into the house for kabel. And that is my flat and someone elses who is using kabel already. Thats how he knows where the kabel outhouse is.

I want to sort this myself because kabel deutschland is rubbish for helping.

I agree with you: I don't see a filter there.

A can see two different cable systems on your pictures. The upper one is for a satelite system, the lower one, as you said correctly, a cable amplifier.

Now my questions are:
How does the cable-outlet in your flat look like? Maybe you have more than one?
Can you watch TV by just connecting it to the outlet, do an analog search?
When connecting your modem to the outlet and powering it on, which indicators go green?

Buy a 3-way-splitter and connect your home-cable.

Hi thanks for the reply i have added 3 more photo's with the outlets for the cable.

My tv can receive analogue signal but it is not receiving anything also i have shown the route. The router just flashes with the data signal so its looking for it.

Usually i am very clued up on all things like this. but in the UK it seems far less complicated.. But its a pain in the arse and i want to get this sorted... And sorry for my ignorance on the last post but how would a 3 way splitter help :(

Thanks for getting back to me so quick.

Since we are sure that there is no filter, this means that the cable supplying your flat (or rather the outlet you are using) is not connected to the cable network.

Your house is connected to the cable network and a satellite dish at the same time. For every TV-Outlet, there is a cable connected to either the satellite multiswitch or the cable amplifier.
Have you checked the outlet in the bedroom? Maybe there is the cable signal, while the one near the christmas tree is connected to the dish?

Without the right equipment, it's extremlely hard to find out, which of the (unmarked?) cables from the multiswitch will actually feed your outlet.
Trial and error is not an option - this can take ages - since while testing, you will interrupt service for at least one of your neighbours.

When knowing which cable has to be moved from satellite to cable, is as easy as Besserwisser says: Change the splitte to a 3-way one to connect your cable to it.
