So habe ich auch mal gedacht. Ich hatte die letztens 20 Jahre immer eigene Server hier.
Um das bei KD zu betreiben, geht ausgehende Mail nur noch über Smarthost.

Aber eigentlich ist ein Vserver sogar viel besser: Im Hintergrund richtige Server Hardware, um die man sich nicht mehr kümmern muss (Anschaffung, Wartung), viel größere Bandbreite, ein oder mehrere feste IP mit konfigurierbaren reverse DNS Namen und vorallem deutlich weniger Stromkosten! Selbst kleine Hardware verbraucht mindestens für 10 Euro Strom im Monat.
Auch keinerlei Probleme mehr wegen Blacklists.

Ich hatte auch immer wegen der Zuverlässigkeit so meine Bedenken bei Vservern. Läuft aber super stabil und ist sogar gut doppelt so schnell als mein vorheriger Home Server (AMD X2).
Genauso habe ich bis vor einigen Jahren auch gedacht und das Zeug von 1997-2004 bei externen Hostern (hauptsächlich 1und1 Rootserver) gemietet.

Damit bin ich mächtig aufs Maul geflogen.
Ich vertraue einfach keiner "Fremden" Plattform mehr meine Daten an.
Zumal die "vermeintlich" (seriösen) Angebote bei Hetzner & Co. immer mehr durch "billig" PC Hardware gestreckt wird.
Da laufen eben keine Xeon Prozessoren mit vernünftigen Intel LAN Chips sondern (aus Kostengründen) billiges i3/5/7 mit Realtek Gelump.

Da Lob ich mir mein soliden Sun Kram. der unter OpenBSD bei 30.000 Paketen pro Sekunden konsequent gähnend noch vor sich hin werkeln kann.

Wie gesagt, Smarthost ist keine Option. Da kann man sich den Einsatz eigener Hardware somit gänzlich sparen. Ich möchte eben nicht von der Konfigurationszensur eines SMTP Relay abhängig sein.

Smarthost & irgendwelche IPv6 zugewiesene Adressen auf Rootservern gehören da nicht mit rein ;)

freier als mit eigenem RootServer, nativem IPv6 und funktionierendem Reverse-DNS kannst du nicht sein. Genau deswegen werde ich es fuer mich so realisieren:-)

das gibt es natuerlich auch. Aber von Providern die in einer anderen Preiskategorie als KDG angesiedelt sind.
